JUNE SPECIALS – Midyear faves

“With just one click, we can escape to a different world” – a pretty cliché line, but most entertainment does well to serve that purpose.

For the month of June and celebrating half a year of this seemingly long year, I would love to share those that I have enjoyed and looked forward to- or spur of the moment new discoveries that I absolutely loved.

YouTube – Linh Truong

Aesthetics, relatable and fun. Those 3 words are the best description on what Linh shares on her vlogs. The smooth storytelling plus the dreamy aesthetics is really something to look forward to. You can see that Linh puts much effort and love in her craft and all the more worth supporting and something to be inspired by. I first discovered her channel back in 2021, but I have been looking forward to her adventures back in June 2022 more than ever.

Takeaway: If you can, and you feel like you should, go right on ahead.

Series – The Crown

The superb execution of this series hooked my curiosity on what would unfold on each episode. Adding the small detail of the episode title at the start is just like reading a book and waiting for the moment when the title and cover will finally make sense.

Favorites would be Scienta Potentia Est (Season 1), Marionettes (Season 2), Moondust (Season 3), The Balmoral Test and War (Season 4).

Summary: Following the life of Queen Elizabeth II and the rest of the Royal Family, it dives into eventful happenings during her reign, politics, difficult choices and how the events unfolded due to the choices made. It also shows those working around them, how vital they were in how decisions were formed and the sacrifices they made working for the Royal Family.

Reminder: While the casts and crew did an amazing job executing the show, this series should not be viewed as a documentary. Although most details are said to be accurate, this show is mainly for entertainment purposes.

Spotify Podcast – Skypodcast

“Welcome toooo Skypodcaaaast” (followed by Scottie’s adorable giggles).

The Skyfam has been a favorite of mine this year. It started with their Skypod House Tour video which I absolutely fell in love with, to their growing family, and now listening to their podcast is one of my comforts after a long day. They’re now ingrained in my simple everyday life as I choose to listen to them while washing the dishes in the evening. It’s like an evening chat with friends (except I just listen, and I’m not actually involved, but you get the point). Their advice and thoughts flow out naturally and gently, nothing forceful and it has the right amount of fun and seriousness. Now that they’ve launched Season 2, I’m very excited on topics they will next come up with.

June has been pretty eventful, and a lot of new favorites emerged. Now that August is coming to a close (yes, this post has been in progress for about 2 months), it’s time for reprioritizing and being serious about it. Absolutely thankful for my amazing support system and the inspiration I’m able to receive from those I choose to follow online. May the remaining days of the year satisfy what our hearts have been craving for.
